  • I'm trying to breed budgies. How do you get your pair to get along? My female constantly chases the male away. What must I do to set the mood right?

  • @FatJan Sorry that I haven't replied sooner. If the female is often violent and aggressive with your male I would separate them from one another but put them in a place where they can hear each other but cannot see one another. I usually do this for about a week and then I put them together. If she is still being aggressive I just give them new partners. Not every mate that you select will be compatible.

  • plz dose eny one know if a hamster can be in a avery witha budgie with the hamster being in a cage

  • why did I click this, I don't even have birds

  • I have four parakeets and a have a breeding pair (one boy & three girls) i have a nesting box in their cage, and that breeding pair gets along perfectly :) but the problem is is that my male wants to mate with the female but the female doesnt :( her cere is a light tan turning bronze and i also heard that if the birds start feeding eachoher, after a lil while they will start maing...is it true? i really want my bird to lay eggs!!!!!

  • I used to breed budgies. I was advised by other breeders to put the male in first or both at the same time. I was warned against introducing males after females to the breeding cage, as females get very territorial and take offense at a bird entering "their territory". Have you had success with introducing the male after the female?

  • Could you tip on how to get the budgies to bread, i have a boy who i have had for 1 and a half year and the girl for a year. The boy is an Exhibition budgie and the girl isnt :P he usually feeds her and they do get along most the time. He sings and loves to play she is usually scared and frightened. There is a next box which i bought from the pet store, looks small but she always gets in there and when i try to take the boy out she jumps in there and screams, please help mee. Thanks

  • @AllAboutBudgies Thanks. She seems to like another male so I've put them together. They don't court but at least they get along.
