Actually, it was written in 1934 by a man named Richard Rodgers. Billie Holiday even sang this song, and she was around WAY before Sinatra. Sinatra was a brilliant singer - but most of the songs he sang were not his original songs - they were covers of older jazz classics.

The Shirley Ross version had different lyrics and the song wasn't titled "Blue Moon", but "Its Just That Kind of Play"

@iambajwa The first recording of Blue Moon was made by Connee Boswell (1935). Then Mel Toume recorded a new version in 1949. Then Elvis recorded his version in 1956. Sinatra didn't record his until 1960, just one year before the Marcels recorded their famous version.
