We enjoyed a night out at Nha Hang Ngon, a traditional Vietnamese restaurant located in Saigon's District 1, that serves traditional Vietnamese cuisine & home cooked style food that the everyday man of Vietnamese would recognize and love. The restaurant is housed in a two storey, old French Colonial Building with large ceiling fans and shuttered windows to allow the fresh evening breeze in to cool off diners sipping Saigon Bia. It's a place full of ambiance and takes you back to an older era of Vietnam where colonial and traditional customs mixed in harmony. Upon entering you will see the kitchen staff, cooks, chefs, and others working hard to prepare your various entrees. Each cook is responsible for preparing the same dish throughout the night. Nha Hang Ngon attracts a nice mix of affluent Vietnamese and ex-pats that live in Saigon. It helps if you know a little something about Vietnamese cuisine if you are not visiting with a local. The hustle and bustle of Nha Hang Ngon, the clattering of plates, the loud Vietnamese shouting, and the chaotic sounds of the Saigon streets below added to the enjoyment for me. In this video I walk thru the open kitchen with my son McKinley Bierman and our friends Jason Bison with his daughter Connie. They are an ex-pats living in Ho Chi Minh City and I must thank them for taking us to this wonderful, traditional restaurant in the heart of old Saigon.
