This is my Engelmann topped '53 Martin D-28.A very fine instrument, with a clear and focused vintage sound.

  • You really have a nice collection of guitars, and ofcourse you play good as usual :) Keep on pickin

  • Thanks,buddy.

  • I never knew about the Engelmann tops. Interesting video and thanks for posting.

  • Those "mystery"1953 spruce tops have a more light pumpkin like color instead of those browish Sitka tops. Some say it's Adirondack. To my ears,it sounds like Adirondack.

I have the same guitar in Sitka from 1951.Both are very loud, but the '53 has a fuller tonal spectrum.

  • @rubbersole79,

Thanks alot.Yes,i have some really good guitars here, but not all of them are mine. Some of them belong to a good friend of mine who collects them too.

I beg to differ sir. You have a most fine collection. WOW!

  • No,thanks. These are my personal guitars.I just like the way they sound.I'm more a player than a collector.

  • HI....any of these old gals for sale?

  • WHOA man! This is some wonderful picking! Love the John Hardly and Salt Creek both! Beautiful sounding instrument as well!

  • Martins after '46 had Sitka tops, but there were a batch of guitars back in '53 and in '57 that were made with very stiff Engelmann tops. They call them "mystery" topped Martins. The looks and sound are like Adirondack.Special guitars.
