In a paper presented by Microsoft's Applied Sciences Group and Microsoft Research, here are five novel input devices that combine the standard capabilities of a computer mouse with multi-touch sensing.

Our goal is to enrich traditional pointer-based desktop interactions with touch and gestures. To chart the design space, we present five different multi-touch mouse implementations - the Arty Mouse, Cap Mouse, FTIR Mouse, Orb Mouse and Side Mouse.

Each explores a different touch sensing strategy, which leads to differing form-factors and hence interactive possibilities. In addition to the detailed description of hardware and software implementations of our prototypes, we discuss the relative strengths, limitations and affordances of these novel input devices as informed by the results of a preliminary user study.

  • good

  • @ssoroka78 Noob! Look at the date of the video! and now think about the release date of the magic mouse!

  • the sidemouse is useless...

  • Apple already has this. It's called a magic mouse.

  • Ugh, creating pointless gadgets without the need for them existing anywhere. Creating a market for the useless toy you just made; they're good at that. It'll probably sell millions.

  • 1:20 tities grab!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nwm, I didn't see the whole vid before I commented..

  • looks cool but how about gaming >: (

  • es bastante complejo de ultilizar creo yo

  • cierto, la jugabilidad en el pc hace mucho que no ha evolucionado, pero lo primero que aprendi yo en el mundo de la informatica fue: "si algo funciona, no lo toques!!" ;)
