  • sounds good,i didnt know they did a cr9 whats the price of those is it any diffrent to the regular r9?

  • Thank you. Yes the CR or chambered Historic Les Pauls first appeared in 2004 - though other custom models have had chambering before that. Wildwood guitars is a good place to compare guitars and prices... with Chambered 59 models $5.4k and Annivesary 59's $5.9k. A few years ago the chambered cost more than an standard historic...but now - there are more chambered guitars around and also there is a premuim on annivesary 59s. hope that helps.

  • @Poembyr As far as I know, the Cloud 9 series was dealer-ordered (by the three largest American Gibson dealers) and was not an official run. I therefore don't think you'd still find any of these unused anymore these days.

  • @AragornCF - Hi there - the name Cloud 9 was 'unofficial' and caused a bit of fuss at the time - as was name given by the dealers not Gibson - and I think the name could only be applied to those original CR guitars made in 2004. However, the gibson custom shop still make them - called 'chambered reissues' - retaining the CR in the serial numbers. check out wildwoodguitars

  • Found this through the les paul forum while trying to find some info on the new head i bought. You said you were playing through a Trace Elliot G-RP3, yes? Not much on 'em out there, do you have a user's manual for it?

  • Hi there - yes I do have the manual - I bought my amp (combo version) from new back in the late 80's early 90's. It is a FAB if complicated amp - but with the on-board mixer feature it is so versatile - I have not come across anything else that lets you blend channels 1+2 or 2+3 and the overall level in each channel in such a clear way.

If you give me your email - happy to scan the manual and send to you - if you would like. Cheers R

  • Great tone

  • im sure they aregreat guitars but part of the reason i bought myl r8 was due to it being a solid body..

  • In terms of tone, the only way i can describe my chambered '58 is that its a Les Paul with a health splash of 335 - and for the most part everyone who plays it agrees with that statement.

My chambered '58 has a pretty beefy neck (I havent played a chambered '59 tho haha). Maybe the 59s necks are a nice middle ground between '58 and '60, although the 3 58s that were in the shop all had very different neck profiles so im just speculating :)

Big thumbs up on your playing and guitar Poembyr

  • @fretboarder

I heard one being played in my local music store the sound was excellent.

I picked it up it was the lightest Les Paul I have ever held....... obviously due to the chambering. They are a nice guitar.
