Hear Ngouma for real at http://cdbaby.com/cd/ngouma
This YouTube clip is not supposed to be a show of Ngouma Lokito's best work: That would be Pon Moun Paka Bouge, with Pepe Kalle, the link above. You gotta hear the bass in Congolese music: It's more like a a solo than the bass is in other kinds of music. Hear Ngouma at his best again on Pepe Kalle's famous megahit "Ce Chale Carnaval", and on "Soto" from Aurlus Mabelé and Néné Tchakou. Also don't miss Ngouma Lokito's own CD, "Talisman." They call Ngouma "Le Professeur" -- the university professor of the bass guitar...!

  • sorry friend, completely wrong. The techniques might not be as hot as Vic or Hadrien or someone but the feel is perfect and his playing is subtle and sweet.

  • Masters: Etienne Mbappe or Richard Bona (africans)

  • The very best African bass player are: Dikoto Mandengue, Richard Bona, Armand Sabal Lecco, Michel Alibo, Guy Sangue Akwa, Etienne Mbappe and Aladji Touré...

  • cant you guys read the title. Its says hes warming up. Thats means hes not actually playing for real. Maybe you guys havent heard his chops and songs he has played on yet or you already had someone else in mind as who is the best bassist. That is probably where all this negativity is coming from. I want to know which of the guitarists you guys are boasting about (Victor something or whatever, Richard Bona) can play behind their head. If you all can prove me wrong then I will shut my mouth
