Macross 7 is never ever going to be localized for one thing only. The music rights are astronomically expensive. Even if they wanted to (and I think they did) they can't because the soundtrack alone costs something like 10x the amount to localize something else.

I will never understand the legal dispute between Harmony gold and the Japaneses company that owns the rights to this series (I forget its name ATM) that prevents this and other Macross series from being brought stateside. I mean come on, if they can bring over Macross Plus and the Macross 2 OVA then I don't understand why they can't bring over Macross 7, Frontier and God only knows what else. There's no excuse, no excuse at all. Bring 7 over already DAMN IT!.

No they are not remakes....They are sequel series, not remakes....Macross 7 takes place in 2045-2046, and the current series Macross Frontier takes place in 2059, and the original series took place in 2009-2012, The only remake of the original series, is the Macross Movie Do You Remember Love? Which is a retelling of the series....
