Manners Mall Emo Song

On 4 June 2009, Wellington City Council voted 11-4 to reroute buses through Manners Mall, one of the city's few major pedestrian thoroughfares. While this simplifies the central bus corridor and realigns it to the traditional "Golden Mile", the decision will inevitably result in the displacement of the area's native inhabitants. This is a lament for the upcoming loss of their habitat, performed in the indigenous musical style.

Do you know what would happen with buses that go through Dixon street and then manners street\\?

As I understand it, buses will travel the whole length of Manners St both ways, from the end of Courtenay Place to the intersection of Manners & Willis Sts. Dixon St and Lower Cuba St won't be used for buses at all.

Was working as a Traffic controller at Manners/Cuba Pedestrian Lights at BURGERKING. on Monday 29th DEC 2010. My job was to show cars where to go down into Cuba street AWAY from the NEW bus lane.This was the first working day it was open. What I wasn't prepared for was how CRAZY pedestrians are walking out in front of Buses expecting Buses just to STOP! Two guys were knocked over (crossing to/from Burger king) no injury both NOT crossing at Pedestrians lights. PLEASE BE CAREFUL OUT THERE & LOOK

Its a wonder nobody in Chch has done something similar.

After a fairly long fight the Council and businesses pushed through a change to the mid-city High St mall here where youngsters hung out, and tram lines have just been put through it.

Wasn't even in the name of efficient public transport, because its primarily for the tourists :(
