  • Hey there! Awesome tutorial. Once you are finished retopologizing your mesh, what do you do with it to make it a new, low poly mesh?

  • @dradenlovelorne in the tools pallette, just go to export and import it into your software of choice as obj. Sorry for the late reply I'm sure you've already gotten that by now :P

  • I'm new to Zbrush and 3D work in general. Why are you doing this? What exactly IS re-topology?? Thank you!!

  • @raydillon Re-topology is remaking the topology of the original mesh. Usually this is done to clean things up. One of the most common ways to make a mesh in zbrush is through zpheres, but they generally leave a mess of a grid over the model, which isn't very animation friendly.

  • you're swedish right

  • Yup.

  • how do you turn off the new transparency mode when you are retopologizing in zbrush 4. this is a new feature that makes it hard to distinguish the front from the back.

  • @skitforhjarna I have a question for u once we retopologize our model if we use projection on the new mesh to recreate the details from the old model.can we save out those details from the projection as a OBJ and take that obj in to maya?

  • Retopology is so other soft wares can handle in most animation software can have that many polys and its so you can add edge loops which help the way the mesh will deform as it moves if your just modeling in zbrush you dont need it as mush

  • So.... Zbrush4 now has animation features doesn't it? Is there any reason to do this any more?

  • hey man great video but I have to ask...

once ive done the retopology mesh... what I need to do to make my new mesh take de details of the original odl high resolution subdivided mesh???, cuz Im already finish but my new lowpoly mesh doesn "adopte" he details I already done ate the original version so.... what I need to do?

  • Ty so much for this tutorial! just what i was looking for!
