Ever since I heard this live version of Bobby Darin's "The Girl Who Stood Beside Me" it has made me think of his relationship with Sandra. Even after their divorce he would stay over at the house with her. Sandy later said that Bobby was the only man she ever loved. I decided to make another tribute to Bobby and Sandy (although I think "Once Upon A Time" will be hard to top), and I added a few seasonal touchs, which I hope you all like. I think they had a bond that was never really broken, even after Bobby's death. Anyway, the next Bobby/Sandy vids I make will be a bit more fun and comedic, based on their last two films.

There's a few more rare photos of them together that I found that I wanted to share here. I hope everyone is having a great holiday season!

Bobby came over primarily to visit his son. There is, most of the time, a bond between a couple, because they had a child or children together. My sister is divorced and over the holidays, her ex-husband, although remarried came and saw his daughter. He also came for her graduation from High School and College. It's the children that maintain that bond. Also remember Bobby had remarried.

@Rtmax45 , he instigated divorce proceedings against his second wife, Andrea Yeager, at the time of his death. Their relationship deteriorated pretty much as soon as they were married, for whatever reason. Bobby's poor health and his knowledge that he wouldn't live long may have contributed to his restlessness and behavior, who knows. And finding out that the woman he thought was his sister was really his mother . . . . a lot for someone to deal with.

What year did he record this? Sounds like his "hippie" years. Is that correct?

Yes, this is from a live concert in London in 1967.

Very nice! I saw the movie "Beyond the Sea" with Kevin Spacey and Kate Bosworth; it did a pretty good job putting a musical twist on the lives of this legendary Hollywood couple. I love Bobby's music and think you did a great job. I'll have to check out your others. ;)

Muirmaiden, I do believe that the song could have been inspired by their relationship. There is only one girl that would have that kind of influence for a song like that...Sandy.

I am a bit practical. When someone says they found the "Love Of Their Life" or I found my "Soulmate," there is no such animal. It's all in your head. When I was young, I bet there were 5000+ girls in the US, that I could have married and would have been happy with. The key words are "be happy with." The love of your life doesn't divorse you, and neither does your soulmate. You just married the wrong person. That's all. There are always some problems in a marriage, but you work it out together.

When I say my question to Bobby is which one? I am referring to girls he had on the side while touring. No one want's to go there. He romanced Connie Francis and they wanted to marry. Her father told him to stay away from her. He didn’t. Her father chased him with a gun in his hand.

Bobby divorced Sandy. You did a great job on this video. Bobby stayed over to see his son and to get a little. When he sings "The Girl Who Stood Beside Me", my question to Bobby is which one? Maybe the song should be "The Man Who Didn't Stand Beside Me" for Sandy. Sandy had enough problems dealing with her health, and raising a Son. She said that Bobby was the love of her life. Yes, at one time, but not after the divorse. She didn't marry again because of her health problems.

I wish there were more Sandra Dee's in this world. pure all american wholesome women.. someone you can take home to your parents and be real proud you have a gem by your side, but now were stuck with the paris hiltons, lindsay lohans, Kardashians, and snookies of the world.. how times have changed for the worst..ugh
