Jimmy Franklin
Jet-Powered Waco
2003 Vectren Dayton Airshow
Dayton International Airport
Dayton, Ohio
Friday July 18, 2003
IN THIS VIDEO, watch as Jimmy Franklin takes the Waco JMF-87 up for an aerobatic performance over Dayton International Airport. This was my first time shooting video of Jimmy Franklin, so I had no idea when his performance would begin. Tragically Jimmy lost his life on July 10, 2005 while flying the X-Team "Masters of Disaster" performance in Moose Jaw, SK (Canada). Fellow pilot, performer, and friend Bobby Younkin also lost his life in the same incident. Both pilots will be and are already missed greatly by everyone in the airshow industry, and especially by myself.
Like what you've seen? Well, if you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .
Unfortunately Jimmy Franklin went to a better place along with Bobby Younkin due to a crash they had in Canada while performing the Masters of Disaster airshow a couple of years ago. Jim Leroy, Jimmy Franklin, and Bobby Younkin, the 3 original members of the Masters of Disaster have unfortunately left us for a better place.

Anyone ever seen a more exciting flying display? If you have, I'd like to see it! I saw him at Oshkosh 2004 and it knocked my socks off! Pretty aeroplane.

It must have been really hard to control a Bi-Plane with a jet engine strap to the bottom. He was a very good pilot God rest his soul. Keep up doing the aerobatics in the sky.
