I take no issue with protecting US borders, but these checkpoints are well inside US territory, roughly 100 miles from the nearest adjoining country. Explain to me, if you can, how impeding on the free travel of US citizens is in any way related to patrolling border lines.

DHS don't do shit to prevent illegals from coming into the US. DHS is no different than the BATFE... both agencies are ran & manned by fools and should be abolished.

@Blahblobify Spreading BP agents along the border, each with an attack dog and M-16, would be more effective than assigning them to a highway where most of the traffic consists of law-abiding US citizens.

If I had my way, BP would be glued to the border, under order to issue ONE (1) verbal warning to a would-be border jumper to turn back, and thereafter, to shoot to kill.

Don't you see the joke that is the Dept. of Homeland Security? They rarely if ever manage to keep illegals out.

@xojennixo89 If this were in any way legal, there would be NO discussion, the agent would execute his duties. Problem is that he is hobbled because this is thirty shades of grey as to if it's legal or not. Police rely mostly on COMPLIANCE, in that they get you to do what they say and then if they find something they have grounds to then detain, arrest, and prosecute you, same concept with so called "Safety Checkpoints", have you been drinking Sir? As soon as you ADMIT, they have suspicion.

Fuck illegal immigrants, but WOW, something is very wrong with these Federal Officers, they seem very unsure of exactly what the law is, and when the very people who are tasked with and entrusted to do so are unsure what it is and how to enforce it, that's a little disturbing. Politicians making these so called laws need to clarify all this and empower these Officers. I feel bad for these guys trying to do a shitty job that their highly paid politician bosses will not even clarify.
