a really good gem-of-a-film in my opinion. kind of the perfect balance between art house and mainstream with great cinematography and a solid cast.

dark, quirky but quietly funny and heartfelt. i really enjoyed this one!

I really enjoyed this movie. It's borrowed a couple of good ideas from Wayne Wang's 'Smoke', and if you liked that you'll probably like this as well. Beautifully shot. The one armed barber cooking fish head soup has clearly wandered straight out of a David Lynch movie, and this is surely the only Chinese language movie to ever feature Smog on its soundtrack. The only shame is that Hong Kong doesn't seem able to come up with something this inventive.

it's simply called 'Song' by Smog from the album 'Rain on lens' (2001). There's another Smog song playing when the taxi driver brings Chen Mo back from where he's been dumped: that's 'I Was a Stranger'. I think both fit perfectly.
