This is the way I do the Sega Saturn Swap Trick. This trick allows you to play burned games on your Sega Saturn. This is all about the timing. Once you get it down, it's extremely simple and you can do it perfectly every single time.

The first thing you need to do is open up your Sega Saturn. Do this by unscrewing the five or six phillips screws on the bottom. Then, lift off the top of the case. Locate a small plastic bar in the top left of your Saturn. It is to the right of the power supply, but to the left of the corner of the CD drive. This lever determines whether there is a disc in the drive or not. We want the system to think there is always a disc in the drive, so you need to find some tape, and put it around the lever. Turn on your Saturn, and make sure the spindle spins. If it does, you've done it correctly. Put the case back on.

Now, it's time for the trick. I AM NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE THIS MAY CAUSE. Over time, this trick may degrade your drive's motor to the point where it is unusable. I have not had any trouble yet, but this may change.

To do it, you need a real Sega Saturn game, and a copied Sega Saturn game.

1. With the power off, place your copied game into your Saturn, and press power on.
2. Let the game spin up. When you hear the laser move quickly (you can hear it in my video), replace the copied game with an actual game.
3. When your Saturn comes to the blue SEGA logo, reset your console with the actual game still in the drive.
4. When the console restarts, wait until the CD seems to spin faster. Immediately remove the game.
5. You can now see the laser. When the laser moves its position slightly backwards, immediately place in the burned disc. THIS IS THE TIMING THAT MATTERS THE MOST. A few milliseconds off here, and the game will not run. If you did it right, your game should boot.

And that's it! You can now enjoy any copied Sega Saturn game. Have fun!

  • so whats the point here?? U obviusly need the original disck to do this.

    But nice video anyway..

  • @Teknoviirus You don't need the original disc of the same game, but you do need the original disc of something. Any game will work.

  • was that a copy of command and conquer by any chance?

  • @figaro589 Yep, the GDI disc.

  • how come you don't have to do this on the dreamcast? all you do there is burn the game and it'll work like you bought it.

  • Sega left a huge loophole in the Dreamcast software that hackers used to boot bootlegs. The Saturn doesn't have any loophole like this, so you have to use the swap trick.

  • @majesticlizard That's funny because I'm actually 20 years old. When I did this, I was trying to make it as precise as possible, so excuse me, princess.

  • It works, though I wouldn't do it too much. I'm too paranoid about damaging the spindle. Rather shell out the 40 bucks for a mod chip then risk permanently breaking my saturn.

  • if your planing to do something like that then pay to the developer 10$

  • I love you, tell me where you live and i will BANG YOU

  • i fail to see the point of this excersize

  • @dandyboh True, but it's a LOT trickier to get the timing right that way, believe me!

  • I don't understand why do you reset the console, I can use the swap method without resetting during the swap.

  • @Bluestreakteam No you can't, Saturn can't read DVDs. You can't use CD-RW either.

  • @Teknoviirus dumbdumb haha
