(continued...) I just use them for my laptop, but the reason why lots of people don't like them is because Bose likes to mark higher prices on their products, and consist of artificial filtering and audio compression to make their SMALL speakers sound BIG. That's why they aren't good for true audio/studio quality listening. But even though I'm an audiophile, I just like them because of their power and convenience, and looks too! thanks for posting! :)

Hello there! I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying your speakers! I am an audiophile (serious audio person) and I actually have these Companion 2 speakers. And even though they are certainly not a pair of audiophile Polk SDA towers (which I also have), they really sound good for their size. And even though I would never use Bose for serious music reproduction, I agree that they are incredibly powerful for their small size and sound capabilities! enjoy! :)

@tobibolle For computer speakers, the Audioengine A2 ($160) are the way to go if you care about music reproduction. If you don't want to spend that much the Cyber Acoustics Subwoofer Satellite System (CA-3602) is only $37. For tiny speakers that compete with the Bose Lifestyle line check out Orb Audio.

@cacophony7777 You seem like someone who knows a lot about speakers.
Do you recomment an other 2.0 speakerset which has better sound quality and aren't huge boxes?
Because I'm searching for a good quality 2.0 active computer speakerset.
Thnx

if so many people hate bose wouldn't you think they would change their systems and improve them. well they havent i have bose their fantastic. you probly don't have a bose system. but i have a bose built in sound system in my house its built into the wall it sounds great! and i have the surround sound in my movie theater. so i think bose has a lot of followers

My neighbor threw out a pair of these. I love them. I'm running a 4 amp power supply through them instead of 1.2, so maybe it's making it more powerful, but wow, loud and nice sounding.

@siekiersk Not a good analogy at all. With Apple you're actually getting extra quality for your $ (better components and better hardware/software design). A better analogy for what Bose does would be this: Imagine if the 1985 Yugo GV was reintroduced in America, and Yugo decided to spend billions of dollars marketing it as the a high performance luxury car, and the MSRP was set at $235,000. That's Bose. They make stuff that's inferior to the competition, spend lots on ads, and suckers but it.

@siekiersk lol ... a $3,500 Bose Lifestyle system is vastly inferior to the $300 Energy Take 5.1 setup in terms of both sound quality and build quality. Think about that for a moment. If you're interested in actually learning something about speakers, I'd suggest heading over to the AVS forums.
are they good for watching movies and playing games?

@sabbath465 Check connections, and if the problem persists, take it back to Bose.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
You seem like a nice guy, so don't take this the wrong way.
Bose is the least respected audio brand in the world by people who actually know audio equipment. They are a marketing company and the only fans they have are those that buy into their hype because they've never heard good speakers.
Don't believe me? Ask about Bose on any serious audio or speaker forum (avs forums is the most popular).
I'd also suggest doing a google search for "bose better sound through marketing" (1st link)

@cacophony7777 Thanks for info, but Bose sounds great to me, and that is what I go by. I have Magnepan speakers, and the Bose ones for a fraction of the price sound just as good.
