The Day Britain Stopped (BBC 2003 Mockumentary)

Dramatised documentary which analyses the catastrophe and national tragedy that could happen to Britain if its already over-burdened transport systems reached breaking point. Set in the future on 19 December 2003 and presented as if it were a retrospective documentary made subsequently, complete with mock archive footage and hindsight interviews.

Remember this actually being shown back in the early part of 2003 ... Even nearly 10 years later The Day Britain Stopped is still as good as when it was first shown. Many thanks for posting this :o)

The segment from 58:02 onwards...the music and the explosion has always sent my heart racing. The guy sums it up quite nicely... "Bloody hell!"

I'm not sure when this was produced but the Uberlingen disaster happened just months before this mocku first premiered. Eerily similar circumstances too.

I vividly remember watching this first time it was shown. I was 9 and thought it all was real, I had to ask my parents whether it had actually happened. Guess that shows how good it was. Now I'm watching it again 10 years later, its still a great piece of TV. Reminds me a lot of the 1984 documentary 'Threads' albeit much less worse.
