4th in the Stargazer series, this installment features beautiful hi-resolution footage captured in and around the city of Santa Clarita, and Castaic Lake, California. A Canon 5D Mk2 DSLR (with Canon 17-40mm 4.5L and Tokina 10-17mm fisheye lenses) was used to capture most of the images, with a few being shot with a Nikon D5100. Many sequences here are shown with and without JCMDI proprietary star trail compositing techniques for breathtaking views of the stars and their apparent movement across the sky. Enjoy in full-screen HD with the lights out and headphones on for maximum effect! =)

The soundtrack is "Painted Ladies Theme" from the "StarSpin" CD by Technician (yours truly), digital album and single track downloads are available from the Nimbit Records storefront at the official Technician website/CD page here: http://technician.jcmdi.com/starspin.html

  • @acidium888 Thanks so much for the view and nice comment =) CHeers!

  • could you pleaseeeee do a tutorial of making such a magnificent videos like this one?i am super in love with them.. :)

  • @ejeff87 I have written a lot of my own (proprietary) software to do the specialized star trail compositing, so a tutorial on that part wouldn't help much. On the other hand, timelapse of stars and night sky is fairly straightforward; you just need a camera that will do long exposure and automatically take one image after the other. You can use an ap like "photolapse" to make the still images into video clips. Not exactly a tutorial, but might help get you started... :-)

  • so how do you do your video star trails?

  • @skeli26 It's a complex process I developed myself, the details of which are a bit of a trade secret. Basically you have to "add" the individual still images together, one at a time, and then make those composited images into video clips... It takes lots of time and effort, but usually worth it! =) Thanks for checking it out!
