As your skiing improves you'll inevitably want to leave the groomed trails and ski off piste. Before you do so Darren Turner ( http://www.SkiSchoolApp.com ) has an exercise for you to practice on the piste to help your rhythm that will serve you well as the snow gets more difficult to ski. He also talks about basic off-piste safety equipment (transceiver, shovel and probe) and emphasises the importance of learning how to use them and seeking professional training, advice and guiding.

Why not give the Ski School apps a go? They combine easy-to-understand video ski lessons with cutting edge movement analysis technology. Ski School Advanced on the App Store:

  • As always great video. I've thought about downloading the app for a long time but it will be very useful for when I go skiing in Heavenly, CA in February. This was a really useful I never thought of bringing some of that stuff, thanks again elatemedia and keep making vids!!!

  • @alextlbass Thanks Alex. Having an awareness and understanding of the mountains coupled with alpine safety is essential if you want to get into off-piste skiing and become a true expert. It'll help keep you safe and find the best snow conditions on the mountain. So get the gear, learn how to use it and have a great winter.

  • Thanks for the video, but you forgot one essential piece of safety equipment. The helmet! I've been skiing my whole life and I never ski without one! As a ski instructor I find it extra essential to use a helmet, not only for your own safety but also to bee a good role model.

    My best regards, Simon.

  • can you teach me how to do snow park? i know everything basic but i dont really know how to jump nor turn in the air?
