50th Anniversary of Tallyrand
The Story
Tallyrand began in 1959 when Al and Delores Thomas, with $5,000 in hand, opened a small coffee shop on Olive Avenue in Burbank, CA. The name Tallyrand was discovered by Al and Delores while searching for recipes in a cookbook from the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco. They discovered a tasty soup named after the 19th Century French Statesman Charles Maurice de Talleyrand. Although the spelling has changed from its original namesake, Tallyrand's dedication to quality food has remained constant.
Over the years, Tallyrand developed a reputation for delicious food and good service. Each day starts by roasting fresh turkeys and baking fresh muffins. Coffee is ground to order and soups and salad dressings are prepared homemade in the kitchen. Buttermilk pancakes are made with real buttermilk and are fabulously light and tasty. The steaks and chops are cut daily and the chuck meat is ground fresh to make juicy burgers. We have made the commitment to serve the best food in town!
Incredibly, 50 years have come and gone but the Tallyrand tradition continues. Together, with our devoted staff, Delores, Mark and Karen wish to thank all of our loyal guests for dining at Tallyrand.
We look forward to serving you for many more years to come.

I have been going to this restaurant since I moved here in 1985 - every Sunday religiously! Karen, Mark and the rest of the crew are the best, and so is the food. I salute them all..too many to mention but here are a few wonderful people who have served me throughout the years: Pedro, Marisa, Hayley, Manuel, Marty, Benjy, Sharon, Jennifer, Baldemar!

The Tally Rand is the best restaurant in Burbank. The food is wholesome, fresh and delicious and the service is attentive and friendly. Their daily specials are particularly scrumptious, and they serve the best breakfast ever especially the biscuits n gravy which is served on sundays only. Oh, and the double deck burger is simply divine. as you can tell, I'm a huge fan of The Tally Rand.
