Jungle Cruise Hornbill

This hornbill now lives in the queue of the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland. This hornbill originally appeared in 1976 when an extensive remodel was done. The hornbill was on a tree in the river. Around him were 3 alligators surfacing one at a time trying to get the hornbill. The alligators were on a mechanism where they would pivot mid body- the head would come up, and then go down suddenly making the tail hit the water with a splash. There was a 4th alligator in the scene before Schweitzer Falls. with the menacing gorilla. Currently the gorilla is trying to reach bananas on a floating crate, but in 1976 he was fighting with one of these alligators. The hornbill and all 4 alligators were removed when the ride was opened up on the Indiana Jones side.
