Osama al-Najai, the Iraqi parliament speaker, has told Al Jazeera that the amount of Iraqi money unaccounted for by the US is $18.7bn - three times more than the reported $6.6bn.
The Bush administration flew in a total of $20bn in cash into the country in 2004. This was money that had come from Iraqi oil sales, surplus funds from the UN oil-for-food programme and seized Iraqi assets.

Al Jazeera's Jane Arraf reports from Baghdad.

  • When it comes to government and large sums of money. It's not "mismanagement" it's corruption and theft.

  • Its a shame we even have to kill you so you dont attack our country. You live with a prehistoric mentality still. You need to evolve . We share this planet together as a human race, stop killing each other.

  • There is an old saying in america. Dont start no sht wont be no sht. Dont cry now that we are whipping you. You start it we finish it.

  • Ok so you say we are the terrorist, but, if we the americans leave you the talliban alone, would you stop killing people who are innocent because they to beleive in your religion? Nope.

  • U.S. soldiers are occupying & waging war in the nations of Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Pakistan & God knows where else. No declarations of war have been made as prescribed by the United States Constitution. ALL participants are guilty of treason. The "I-was-just-following-orders" defense didn't work at the Nuremberg show-trials of 1946-7 and it won't work now. U.S. commanders have routinely violated the Yamashita/Medina Standard in regards to hierarchical accountability in cases of war crimes.

  • @withholeyshoes You are uneducated idiot. what recources. actually you did not take anything from Iraq.

  • @nema1218 Thank you.

  • Iraq needs to have Americans withdraw,as time goes by militant attacks will go down, and die out.

Iraq needs stability, enough of wars and this nonsense.I think before 2014 Maliki will be voted out by Iraqis, time for this country to move on.

  • hell, it's just paper. just print some more
