On Tuesday, May 24, 2011, I along with other members of Storm Chasing Adventures Tours, were in the Oklahoma City area in pursuit of numerous tornadoes in the area. Heading north on I-35 near Moore, OK, radar indicated baseball-size hail ahead, so we took cover under the awning of a closed gas station. The first part of this video shows hail, wind, and rain that occurred at the gas station location. Later we continued north on I-35, but had to park under overpasses to escape damaging hail. A little further on we noticed tornado damage along I-35 not far from where we parked at the gas station. We realized then how lucky we were to have escaped a direct hit by an invisible, rain-wrapped tornado.
