Each to their own, but for me Round Dances are cued, just as Squared Dances are called.
It's one of the things I really like about Round Dancing, as opposed to Sequence Dancing.
In Rounds, you learn the steps, then follow the cuer, and don't have to learn the sequences off by heart.
Do they have competition Square Dancing without a caller?

@bairen2002 : No, they don't have square dancing without a caller (that I know of.) But I /think/ a reason why we have to memorize is so that there's the music, and us dancing, no cues getting in the way of music. That's just me though. But I have fun memorizing the cues, it's very challenging. :}

Really enjoyed the video. I have never seen "freesiyle" rounds (didn't hear a caller) but it appeared they were all dong the same routine. Just a suggestion from a vidographer: use a monopod or tripod when possiple..helps steady the shots..keep up the great work.

well, all the competetors(sp?) have to memorize their dances. it's like that for every division. and i didn't have a tripod for my camera.
