http://www.banjocrazy.com/ My name is PauL Roberts. I'm a lifelong professional performing musician, whose interests are mainly in international folk music and composing. Currently I am the only independent product specialist and dealer in the world representing Gold Tone musical instruments exclusively. Please check out my website and call me for the best deals on the entire Gold Tone line.

"Camel Stomp" is a tune I composed using a Gold Tone BC-350+ 5-string banjo. It was designed by legendary clawhammer banjoist, Bob Carlin. The BC-350+ (as well as the BC-120 and BC-350) has a nice frailing scoop and a slightly wider fingerboard than a standard 5-string. It has a 12" diameter body which helps bring out the mids and lows. Mine has a skin head which further sweetens the tone.

I'm playing in G modal tuning - gCGCD - capoed on the 2nd fret with the 5th string tuned to A.

My website http://www.banjocrazy.com/ is my online dealership for Gold Tone. It also features interviews with great banjo players, including Adam Hurt, Bob Carlin, Cathy Fink, Marcy Marxer, Gordon Johnston, Laurence Diehl, Rob MacKillop, Tom Berghan and others.

I am coproducer for Adam Hurt's groundbreaking solo gourd banjo CD, "Earth Tones."

Thanks for watching, listening and reading. Hope to see you again.
PauL

Claude from the Black Land in Belgium. That sounds pretty ancient to me. What are you playing on your cello banjo?

  • Hello PauL !! Have you ever thought of testing a CC-OT- A scale banjo ?

    Claude, from Belgium..

  • @Oldpapyclaude

    Hi Claude,

I've gone the other way, in terms of pitch. It's rare that I can drag myself away from cello banjos these days (whencesoever cometh these growlingly beasts?).
