Otaku1811's Freelance Anime Art!

I decided to make a little clip that shows a little bit of my process when it comes to making digital anime art in Photoshop CS3. I make a rough sketch from scratch in PS and tweak it a couple hundred times to make sure my client is totally happy with it, and that it lives up to my standards as well before I ink it. I also like to make the rough lines a light blue because it's easier on my eyes when I do draw over it. When I ink I do most of the work "by hand" via wacom tablet, and I use the pen tool for those tricky curves that require more precision. Not everyone does it that way, but it's what works for me! Of course I use a few layers, one for the rough sketch, one for the clean lineart, and one for color.

I also love to listen to upbeat music, in this case I was in the mood for good old Anime theme music and I am singing along with a song called "Tamashii no Rufuran" (Soul's Refrain) from the Neon Genesis Evangelion Movie, 'Death and Rebirth.' The song is sung by one of my favorite j-pop/voice actress talents, Masami Okui.

This picture is an original Gaia based character commission for my friend Steven aka NarutoLestat, who is one of my best and most frequent customers. :P
