The cop was AFRAID of that little girl. Cops today are not the men they used to be fifty years ago. Seriously, I think they deliberately hire cowards for cops today. Remember how the cops at Columbine refused to confront the shooters? Remember VA Tech with the cops cowering outside behind cars?

@guitar7901 If this kid came at the cop (or anyone who was there) with a knife , that would obviously change everything. Use of weapons is acceptable to gain & maintain control only when absolutely necessary. A mothers request is not an acceptable reason for weapon use. This decision is the sole responsibility of the LEO. There was no mention of the need for the use of a weapon for the physical safety of anyone present. Maybe that was left out. Good luck on your plan to involve in LE!

@ohannahdad I do want to become a cop also, although i do not have family that are cops, but i believe that if the kid was going to end up hurting herself then a taser isnt a bad idea, they do not know if there were knives or weapons laying around, the media tends to leave information like that out, i suppose tasering would be a better idea than OC or nightstick.

@guitar7901 I prefer to think that there are more good cops than bad cops. I have cops in my family and they; much like me, are upset at some of the "misconduct" reports that we all read about. Just like anyone, when job performance exceeds the normal expectations I feel LEO(s) are properly recognized. It's when they are guilty of unacceptable behavior and recieve 2 wks suspension WITH PAY, and then back to work; that I get upset. I would fire a cop who tasered a 10 yr old. He is unpredictable!

@ohannahdad I will say that there are bad cops out there just like everywhere you go there are people who do not do there job right, my house for example, the people who owned it hired shitty contractors who decided to put 6 layers of shingles on. my point here is that there are cops who do not do their job right but doesnt that come with ever profession out there? Most cops are actually good people believe it or not.

@guitar7901 Cops are paid to serve and protect the people. When serious crimes occur (ie) bank robberies, kidnapping, drug busts, hostage situations etc, and all goes well; cops get a lot of justified praise. Normal patrol activities attract neither positive nor negative attention. When cops use extreme unnecessary force, or behave in any unacceptable manner they get a lot of justified criticism. If there were less bad cops, there would be less bad stories about them.
