What is a Chronograph? Many watches are "chronographs". That means they have a stopwatch function. Some people buy them because they like the look but are not sure of how to use them. How do the buttons work? Here's a how-to tutorial that is easy to understand. This is #2 of 2 videos, using a watch that has the normal 3 hands plus 3 hands dedicated to chronograph timing. Also see my 1st video with a watch that has 2 hands for the chronograph.

  • Help i have a problem with my tag heuer fomula 1. The same one you have but in black. The tenth of a second needle seems to be pointing to 3.5 of a second. So when ever i reset the timer, the tenth of a second hand goes back to the 3.5 not the 10. I also googled it and a few people had said i need to send it in for service. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks

  • @1ben1245 You can change the "reset" position of quartz chronograph hands. Service is not usually necessary. The position of hands can be calibrated using the buttons while the crown is out. Sometimes the upper button adjusts one subdial and the lower button adjusts another. Or sometimes the upper button selects which subdial will move and the lower button moves the hand. Pull the crown out one click and experiment with pressing the 2 buttons. You may also have to try with crown out 2 clicks.

  • @sythspike so how do I know if my watch is broken? (just incase)

  • @ericleeSupSayK You need to take the watch to somebody who knows a bit more about how watches work and ask them to test it. Try the watch repair person in a department store. Or post a video and ask people to comment.

  • I have a chronograph watch from TW Steel, I can either make the Second hand move or the chronograph second hand move but not both together, why is that?

  • @ericleeSupSayK Sorry, I'm not certain. There are too many out there to be familiar with all of them. Perhaps the second hand is used for some other purpose while the chronograph is running? I have one watch where the second hand is used as a 1/10s hand when using the chrono function. After resetting the chrono it returns to acting as the seconds hand.

Thank you for posting this response to 1ben1245's problem. I had the same problem with my Timex T-Series chronogragh, and your answer helped me with correct the same issue. Cheers!

  • that is not a lap timer feature it's actually what's called a split timer. nice timepiece and nice video regardless.

  • Great video. Didn't realise that if you use the set button the watch continues to count time even thought the hands are still... and when you press the set button again it catches up. A Super function.

  • @Synthspike OMG THANKS!!! It worked!!! Subscribed!
