Simple rail gun type thing i made whiles ago. was operating more smoothy before friend nearly destroyed. using coils from 12vdc magnets, a uln2803 or such driver, and a 7404 inverter (as s/r flipflop)... As the metal panchinko ball touches the rails, made from house wiring, it switches which magnet is active. All held together with the hot glue. Easy eh? :D

  • So does this work by the coils attracting and repelling the ball, and is the ball magnetic

  • @iwan0t0smith ball is not magnetic, is from pachinko parlor... there is only attraction no repelling :p

  • No, I think it was just proof of concept, not sposed to be a real rail gun

  • tbh i happened to see another device on here made similarly that was labled 'rail gun'. It did not go back and forth just one direction maybe thats the difference? @_@

    hehe

  • when you say in the title "was operating more smoothy before friend nearly destroyed", does that mean your firend was nearly destroyed, or your friend nearly destroyed it?!

  • haha, no one was almost harmed... just bend it and broke some pieces.. all good it was built pretty fragile ^^

  • thats not a rail GUN, it's just the "mecanism" of one.

  • A gunpowder projectile releases one large impulse, though, while a rail gun applies the force over a longer amount of time. The recoil is still there, but much easier to compensate for.

  • (this x 10(power)) + rail 180º = mFk Railgun!

  • Gauss gun, railgun, coilgun, essentially identical.

  • this is closer to a guass gun then a rail gun.

  • Attraction, no repelling. I guess that's because of the gravity of the ball coming back down the hill that makes it go back and forth?

  • This is neither a gun nor is it related to a coil-gun. It's a bend rail which operates by techniques similar to a gauss-gun which is totally different.

  • this thing is called "Gaus-Gun", not "Railgun".

  • You disgust me by posting videos in which things are not what you say they are. YOU sir, are a ham sandwich!

  • weres the gun in that its just a rail

  • Fail Gun

  • do this would make guns quite
