I have a PS3 now and was thinking about getting a Xbox 720 for the online play. But because of the inability to play used games, I would not purchase the Xbox 720. Maybe you force games store to have licenses to sell used game and that licensing money goes toward paying the developer.

I think the idea is ridiculous. Correct me if I'm mistaken: If this rumor is true, and the new xbox doesn't play used games, I'm pretty sure stores like Gamestop, Play n Trade, etc, won't make as much money as before. Rendering them nearly useless. And this is just another way for them to make people buy new games, another way they're making people buy new games is, the online passes. Which isn't available in a used game, or a rented game.... Plus, I don't think it'll sell as much as the 360..

I highly doubt this is a true rumour. Microsoft would lose a lot of money on this and no-one would buy games.
