  • I have never been able to understand how, when Country Music Television named the 40 greatest men of country music, a couple of years ago, they left out Marty. Actually, he should have been in about the top five, along with Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and George Jones. But, no, they had to put in so many of the modern ones, the ones who won't stand the test of the time, that they left one of the ALL-TIME greatest -- Marty -- off the list ENTIRELY!

  • God's Gift ....... to real country music!

  • @pegcage Yeah the best really is Marty. He's ten times the musician that any of the other legends of country music were. Not only that, he is the better songwriter. Better than Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, or anyone else for that matter. And, he was writing songs before Bob Dylan as well. He was incredible.

  • I got to see Marty Robbins in Fresno, Ca back in the late 70s. He had such a wonderful repore with the audience. What a wonderful talent. RIP dear Marty. We miss you.

  • Marty at his best, as always.

  • Marty Forever, and his voice, That is amazing.

    Best Country singer.

  • He just had a beautiful voice. I don't know what else to say about it. Unbelievable. Could this guy manhandle a song or what? He could do it all -- wrote probably 500 songs, won Grammys, played 7 or 8 instruments, you name it...but that VOICE. You go, Marty.

  • Thank you Tarquin There will never be enough Praises for MartyRobbins for me So when one talking Bout Elvis And MARTY In the same breath makes me M He was a Wrecker of Good Songs no OP

  • So young and fresh-faced!! Oh my goodness alright!!]

You legend Marty! You legend, you legend, you legend!!

  • This guy was just sensational. He could do it all. Sing 'em, write 'em and entertain like no other before or since. Just look at the variation of musical styles he could do. He was one of a kind and many people's lives would have been much poorer without Marty Robbins.

  • Great!

  • I just noticed a fine looking June Webb sitting behind Marty in a green top! June Carter is cute too!
