This video includes some winter scenes (albeit with no snow) where rainbows and yamames get caught on nymphs and dry-flies (midges). One of the yamames I caught that day was my record-breaking in size: 14in. It's not so big for a Western trout but is pretty big for a yamame, whose average size is about 9in. The site is called Narago.

  • Great video! Beautiful patterns on that trout. My friend is going to visit Japan soon & I got to show this to him. Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks for your comment. Hope your friend is having a good time here in Japan, fishing for the country's natives!!!

  • im in japan but dont know where to buy fly gear?

  • hi, CoolBigWillieStyles.

it's sometimes difficult to find a decent place for fly gear depending on where you live.

i live in Tokyo and often visit Sansui for fly stuff.

    where do yo live?

  • what kind of flies do you use for these fish?

  • Great video, I enjoyed the variety of trout and there different color patterns. I mostly salt water fly fish if I go to Japan some day I like to try fly fish in in the mountain streams of Japan.

  • Thanks for your comments. Do let me know if you have a chance to visit Japan; I'd be happy to take you to some decent trout streams here. Best regards!
