@MatthewN32 Oh Oh Mathew, John McCormack sang this at the Eucharistic Congress Mass in the Phoenix Park in 1932...not 1924.

so i have to conduct this for drum major try-outs, and i'm really scared!!

This is simply wonderful !

By the way, McCormack´s sincerity behind his technique is unbeatable. The same goes for the way he incorporates Sean Nós nuances into his Irish songs. A truly great man.

Brilliant. Yer only man. Thank you!

I gave one of those Victrolas away recently because my turntable plays 78's. I hope that wasn't a big mistake. Beautiful singing.

Very good reproduction indeed -what's the machine and why is it so good?

grew up listening to this wonderful singer, and his recordings still make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. his voice touches the heart and soul in equal measure, and i am delighted to have enountered the great man via youtube - thank you!!!

"Panis Angelicus" is translated as "Bread of Angels" not "O Lord Most Holy" as indicated in the info accompanying the upload. That's why it is used at First Communions, Eucharistic Congress, etc.

@1carrigdhoubh Interestingly the Eucharistic Congress takes place again in Dublin in 2012, ninety years after 1932. Much has changed since then.

Breathtakingly beautiful, the greatest version of this hymn, McCormack's voice from the past at his prime is such a gift. Perfect for the Xmas holiday.
My granddad remembers hearing this live by John McCormak at the 1932 Eucharistic Congress in Dublin... Now that's a trip down memory lane!

Ronan, Thank you for watching. I'm pleased you enjoyed the recording. That day in Dublin was a once in a lifetime event. What I wouldn't give to be able to go back in time to be there!

Beautiful singing.
Thank you so much fuzzbear6240, the sound is very crisp, and it's always thrilling to see such a vintage machine in action; the video of the room it's in isn't hard on the eyes either!

Such a sadness to lose all of the beautiful Latin music. This one and Ave Maria are sung once in a while. But oh how I miss the beautiful 4 part High Masses. What a mistake.

99Collie88, (Sorry for the delay in responding.) I am to young to have experienced the Latin Mass in person, but I have watched clips of one here on YouTube and hope to attend at least one someday. Thank you for watching and commenting.
