  • Statue of a Fool: Jack Greene: history lesson Pay attention.

Jack had been carrying the song around for some time and bringing it to many recording sessions. The Original title of the song was "Name It After Me" and for some reason Jack's producer, the legendary producer for Decca Records, Owen Bradley didn't particularly like the song but Jack had a lot of faith in it Only after the title was changed to "Statue of a Fool" did Jack manage to sneak it in and have the hit with it.

  • @Lillieking07 This is the original and RVS sounds like crap

  • In my opinion the only other that did justice to this song is Brian Collins. I do not like the other versions of the song. Ricky Van Sheltons version is horific.

  • What was some of Jacks other hits? I love his voice, it sounds real not played with like a lot of music today.

I found another great voice singing this song if anyone's interested in hearing. His name is rocky standridge. I don't think he's a professional singer yet, but he should be. He sings this song and several other oldies very well to be so young.

  • @charliebradley1979 Good info, ....yay

  • Actually although a beautiful song, and singer, I liked the version when he wa older,. Just my opinion, still the same singer just older

  • I have listened to this song ever since Jack Green recorded it. A long time ago.It is so beautiful.

  • I just offered my friendship, but I found hate. Please, name after me some statue of a fool.

  • After Ricky Van Shelton this sounds like a cheap copy

  • I saw him perform this at the Grand Ole Opry earlier this year. He's 81 and sounds as good as ever. I recorded it and if I can find it, I'll post it.

  • @brownmajic48 don't listen to it then.....
