This is a video slideshow of my first canoe solo into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, in northeastern Minnesota. I lost the first three days to illness and storms, so I couldn't make the loop to Quetico and back. Fantastic shots and editing. Great job. Been up to quetico 9 times in september. Haven't been up since 04 now. But we're returning next may for two weeks and completey stoked. Never experianced it in the springtime yet. Thanks for posting a kickass vid.

Nice Job, I took a 14 day 130 mile solo myself in 2008. Now I see how to present it properly. Nice website presentation also.

My dad and I are leaving for BWCA in 4 days. we are staying for 8 days.. He has been there twice, I have never been.

No, this was my second trip to the BWCA. The first was a solo to the same area back in February of 2007.

what other pre experience did you have before your first trip?

@stevenhuston Probably a bit late on my responses but to answer your question, I have a lifetime of experience messing around in the woods, but had not done any canoe tripping before. Some kayak trips, lots of hiking, hunting, etc., but never a canoe trip. So it was a learning experience. If you're on the fence about a solo trip don't worry too much about experience - just have a plan, be careful, and take your time. Take a short trip first and go from there.

I plan to take my first solo bwca trip this summer and I hope I can enjoy the same soul lifting experience that you have captured in your video and photos. Well done.
