Wood and Steel ... cover 1985?

This is a David Allan Coe song I had almost forgotten about. 'Wood and steel' refers to a guitar - sometimes it's your only friend. I came across some old cassette tapes from my days as a solo singer in the northeast. This came in handy as my last song took over a week to complete because of my recent work/activity schedule. This is from some time in the 80's, can't remember exactly as I was doing some heavy duty drinking/drugging back then - I've been straight/sober now for years. I plan to post some more tunes from these tapes in the near future. Obviously I have no video but I found a picture from that time period.

@1566spaulding I don'y know where to get tabs, I play and tune by ear and don't read tabs or music. The chords are pretty simple, there is just a little more picking than strumming. Glad you liked it.

I'll be honest, I'm not familiar with this song but it's hauntingly beautiful. Thanks for posting it. Took a couple seconds to realize the pic is of you! I put together a video called "Soulshine..A Tribute to the Soul of a Guitarist" using the Allman Brothers song, but can't post it anywhere as I used tons of pictures off the Internet without permission and don't want to get sued!  Anyone who's never stayed up half the night (or maybe all night) singing and strumming just wouldn't understand.
