  • Dude you don't get it-you need carbs to live, just manage your intake right? That is a choice you make in your life. NOW....... Type 1 diabetes is a disease where your autoimmune system attacks your own ability to create insulin and convert those carbs to the energy humans need to live. The monster is the disease.......fuel for the monster is an uneducated opinion such as yours below.

  • The monster is not diabetes. The monster is carbohydrates.

  • As the single parent of a Type 1 Diabetic, thank you so much for making this video with such a sense of humour. You brought a tear filled smile to my face..... not something that happens lightly when dealing with this boogie-man.

PS: unless caring for a T1D kid..... you aren't entitled to share an opinion. Keep it to yourself. Write it in your diary. Or offer to help someone in town living w/ T1D

  • HI! whats type one? this sounds like ac/dc

  • @couchebag My son has Type 1 and I agree that you should not tell them a monster gave them Diabeties, but I do tell him there may be a cure in the future. He is in a Trial study to help find a cure. This one may not be it but I will not take away his hope and his need to help. It is hard at times and like you said maybe more for the parents with this being said it has made him stong in so many ways that he might not have been. Not only commericial aircraft but being on the front line too.

  • @dietcoker11 You are correct shots in general are cake so to speak. This is the parents way of coping. The child is probably handling it better than them. You are wrong about one thing. She can never be an airline pilot. Type 1's are not allowed to fly commercial aircraft. Or so I was told when first diagnosed.

  • i agree totally with ur view on diabetes

  • i think u r making diabetes harder on ur child dont tell her a monster gave er diabetes or dont tell her that someday there will be a cure for diabetes dont tell er she has a illness r she is different tell er she is lucky tell her that she will live longer than her friends n she will b healthier dont hold her back and never say negative things and words like monster ur not supporting her when u do this tell her. i talked to a diabetic today n he said he would not change the way e is 4 anything

  • Hi I am Type1. I have had it for 13 years (since I was 11)

and I hate these kinds of videos.

Your daughter will have a very long and healthy life, there is nothing she cant do (run a marathon, have children etc).

This kind of self pitying helps no one. The shots dont hurt and with pumps life is better then ever!

Its really not healthy to focus on the negative like this!! Diabetes is not a "monster" is just a condition that you have to get on with! end of!
