GC University A Place where legends are borned

If there is heaven on earth, it is here in the four walls of GC University Lahore and no where else! It was at Government College that we first learnt to sift through chaff and take out the wheat of wisdom! It was at Government College that we first learnt to bemused with the fragrance of the finer emotions of the throbbing heart and express them with subtlety in words written or spoken! One can go places after one walks out of the portals of the grand alma mater, but the lessons learnt at the benches of the 147 years old citadel of learning can never be forgotten! How can one forget something that becomes the cornerstone of one's outlook on life! Where else could one learn to be tolerant with the view of a pluralist? Where else can one celebrate the diversity of thought through the works of Goethe and Rumi? Where else can one acquire the skills to adapt the nuclear technology to energize the furnaces of the industry and the hearths of our homes? Where else can one learn to break bread with one's arch rivals and ink the Charter of Democracy? It is at Government College and no where else!




It is always a source of gratification to hear about the magnificent strides that our alma mater is taking. Is it not a moment to celebrate when the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan ranks GCU very high among its peers - the peers who are much more resourceful and well-heeled? Is it not the only institution that has produced the best results at the Lahore Board for the last 21 years? Is it not the only public sector university that has set up an endowment fund to finance the education of bright and deserving students? Do we not cherish that the cultural life at GCU is flourishing like no other institution? GCU is still an ideal breeding ground for debates, music, drama, social service, penmanship and much more! I, therefore, believe that such a rare institution of human grooming deserves to be preserved and further expanded. I pledge that the GCU faculty and students will further intensify their efforts to achieve academic excellence in days to come.
