I'm surprised people don't understand the flashes of light - they are meant to depict a photo shoot. When the lights flash, you get the effect of still photos. It's meant to give you the impression you're flipping through a pornographic magazine, or present during a shoot. Excellent idea from the director.
@Joostjade I agree, fantastic production, great orchestra and beautiful singing! I, for myself, wouldn't say LJBSasha's remarks are unfounded, as he does explain why he thinks it's horrible, I just totally disagree.
In fact, even if "Sjergjéy" were to end up really doing what's simulated, it still's better than to jump around it and tease people into wondering what's really going on... Best not to hide the truth but to work FROM it...
Never have I seen the love making scene in the opera, very creative approach and the scene is a very strong ! Just amaizing

@boobookazam Well said. And it's more attention grabbing and shocking, in a way, than a realtime scene, without flashing.
