I read through some of the depositions provided by Ms. Sheldon. If the depositions are real, then it is pretty stunning what happened in Westerly to Mr. Mauti.
Apparently it is highly unusual for a Police Captain to be making routine traffic stops. Yet Westerly Police Captain Matarese "coincidentally" pulled over Mr. Mauti one day after an unidentified police officer in Westerly broke the rules and looked up his record on a national database without cause. The guessing is Capt. Matarese was the one to use the database.
I think I read using the database like this is a crime? Based on the depositions, the Westerly Police Department is playing dumb over who used the computer database illicitly.
To add fuel to the fire, several Westerly officers testified in the depositions that the general assumption among Westerly Police Department was that Chief Scuncio had asked Capt. Matarese for a favor and that is why Mr. Mauti was arrested for a traffic violation that was iffy at best. The charge was eventually dismissed by a judge if I understand correctly.
I'd like to believe none of this is true, but when even Westerly police can't believe there was no collusion, why would anybody else believe it?
I know that there is something odd in Hopkinton when anyone publically questioning town officials ends up with legal problems. For those who criticize anonymity, it's easy to identify yourself when you go along with the power structure. Has any politician challenged the power in town and survived with their reputation intact? I doubt it.

I know that there are some good police officers in the two towns mentioned. However, there seems to be alot of bad ones. No wonder that names on this blog are fake, who wouldn't when stuff like this goes on. To read these depositions and court docs would probably sicken an ax murder.
We have the westerly police, some talking some what honestly when questioned, but you can tell they are covering some what. Then others who are lieing through there teeth, but get caught up in their lies occasionally. But one thing is for sure, they all give crediblity to what Mr. Mauti has stated about the chief and Hopkinton.
Reading the cases against Hopkinton makes me even sicker. Sounds like the police and others set us up for failure with their new police station. Also sound like Mr. Mauti has one hell of a lawsuit, that looks like it will or could potentially cost us a million or more. No wonder Westerly settled out of court. No wonder names are hidden here, could he be you, one would hope not. That kind of depression it could cause could make a skinny person as fat as a whale.
When it is all over I hope there is some accountabitly from those involved because I have a feeling that the taxpayers of our town will be held footing the bill and left to clean up this mess. Not only should there be major out cry by our citizens, but a whole change of goverment when this is done, if it is true. Seems like there were a lot of players in this whole situation, from the chief, other officers, council members (some still on it Vinnie and Bev.), Maggie and company, friends of council members, Mr. C probably, Mr. G, town employees and even the newspaper who takes honest peoples money to report what is suppose to be honest news.

Det. Dan Baruti ,promoted to LT his State Trooper brother there. B now will be 2nd in command. The day they arrested me officer Whewel told Baruti my daughter was videoing arrest.Baruti told him take film then camcorder[she just bought it $400] outside the warrant which was only for the house in this miscarriage of Justice. Baruti's sister died of MS . God see's everything. Baruti told my daughter he had nothing to do with it!Judas!He also brought Tickner into our home during an inspect Exposed!

Scuncio gives Dan Davidson a Ref. to obtain a private investigators license. Then Davidson arrested for cyberstalking and child porn !!

Now Scuncio on tv stating he's caught a guy showing child porn to boy scouts. But hey he gave other guy pass ! Hmmmm!

Westerly Sun reporter went off for three wks and returned to write about a book recently published about scunio and mcdonald /murder case. She earlier wa writing a nother book with scuncio re a different murder. But no suspect tried , no verdict. So here she is again . Did she help with this book too. It's dangerous to have a police chief too friendly with an editor !
