@LegendaryElite Also, I don't think you're giving buffalo the credit they deserve. They've got a good team right now, and for the future with the great prospects they have. They have a new owner, who's not only committed to spending and winning it all, but also cares about the players and their well being. They have a need for a #1 center and a better pp, both Richards brings to the table. The only thing stopping people from saying "Richards to Buffalo" is our undeserved reputation as a city.
@LegendaryElite The fact of the matter is that, regardless of who did what, those contracts don't look good to a guy who's publicly stated he wants stable ownership, and a commitment to players and winning. The rangers have had a history of overpaying fa's, then burying their contracts later. Plus they haven't really done anything for years.
@Mordecai016 NY didn't ruin their careers, they did it to themselves. Sather is a terrible GM, yes and their big name signings have flopped. Gaborik had an offseason and played most of it with an injury, so you can't assume he's going down the same route. With moves LA just made, we can all but count them out of the running and I highly doubt he's going to take his talents to Buffalo. I can't confirm him not wanting to play in a huge city but he's stated his desire to play under Torts again
@LegendaryElite NY has had a history of bringing in highly overpayed FA's and ruining their careers. Drury, Redden, Gomez, even Gaborik is showing signs that he may take that route. Richards has said he wants a stable organization with proper commitment to the players and winning. Tossing superstars aside for the next best thing is what the rangers have been doing for years. Also, Richards has stated he's not interested in playing in a huge city/major hockey market.
@Mordecai016 Well, I can understand Toronto not improving at all if acquiring Richards, however, I do think the Rangers can be a major player in the conference. Their defense is solid and they have a top 5 goalie in Lundqvist. Their main issue is their lack of offense. They're not a finesse team like, say the Red Wings, so most of their offense is ugly and grinding. That's how the team works. You bring in a guy like Brad Richards and pair him up with a guy like Gaborik, imagine the possibilities

At least with him signing with the Rangers, he will have plenty of time to practice his golf swing...
Poor excuse for a Canadian.
