LYRICS:

A mh'ansacht na n-ansacht a dtug mé m'ansacht go léir duit
Nach cuimhin leat mo mhealladh, is rinn tú'n fheall orm na dhéidh sin.

Anois atá mé folamh is go bhfuil m'intinn lánbhuartha
'S mé ag amharc ar mo leannán ag fear eile á bréagadh.

Éireoidh mé ar maidin le theacht dheirg na gréine
Agus fuígfidh mé mo bheannacht ag cailíní an tsaoil seo.

Bhéarfaidh mé an ruaig sin thart suas fá Loch Éirne
'S ní phillidh mé 'na bhaile go gcanfaidh 'n chuach ann gach réigiún.

Mar bhláth bán na neoiníní bhíos a' fás i dtús a' tSamhraidh
Nó mar fhaolán dheas bhán a bhíos a' snámh ar na méillte.

Mar ghrian os cionn na dtuillte 'sí dealrú thart timpeall
'S nach siúd mar bhíos mo ghrása a' déanamh rámhaillí i m'intinn.

My Love and Delight

My love and delight to whom I gave all my love,
do you remember how you charmed me and then betrayed me?
Now I am empty and my mind is all grieving
as I see my lover being coaxed by another man.

I'II rise in the morning with the redding sky
and give my blessings and farewells to the girls of the world.
I'II take myself off up by Loch Erne
and won't come home until the sky echoes with the cuckoo-call.

Like the white petals of daisies growing at the start of summer
or the lovely white seagull flying over the dunes.
Like the sun over flood-water, glistening all over.
Such is my love that drives me to distraction.
