To those who have had gears breaking down, Easiahobby posted 2 days ago parts for the STAR FNC from ARES=replacment air nozzle, Gear and metal gear boxes.
Many people have had problems with this gear. My gun broke down, when we examined it, its obvious it is high carbon, low quality steel.
We sended alot of mails to Easia and ARES (because ares parts seemed simular).. And looks like they had results.

@Mjarf88 it wasnt a 2GX and i was running a highspeed setup :P

@dingbat667 How did you manage to crack the gearbox? I've shot thousand of shots with a M120 setup with a TM gearbox shell with no problems at all.

That's kinda the same logic as "But a 9mm slug can go right through my metal car door, so why would I want to use multi-layered kevlar, a cloth mesh, as body armor?"
The nice thing about polymers is their ability to absorb shock. While metal has higher tensile strength, it doesn't yield and is prone to be brittle while polymers have some degree of elasticity...

@egoleech they should make clear receivers for VCRA compliant guns out of this stuff!

i dont care what anybody says about how strong plastic is. my METAL kwa gearbox cracked, so why would i want to buy a plastic one?
-
wait...what is the gearbox made out of??????/
-
no. It doesn't bother me at all. we're used to play semi. we don't miss fullauto ^^
but I never tried that V3 stuff myself. just heard of it.

cool. sucks about that 0.5j thing; that's worse than japan... and i only ever use 9.6v batteries in anything, so it's all good. thanks for telling me about the v3 stuff too.
It's a polymer that's stronger than metal. Most support gun GBs are plastic too.
