How to make a Petri Dish Leyden Jar in under ten seconds.

A beginners entry level tutorial of how to make a Leyden jar out of Metal Foil and a Petri Dish in less then ten seconds. Lesson 101 in capacitor construction for beginners; once you have made a few, the concept seems simple; but everyone starts someplace. In the single plate form it is more of a Franklin Square but functions exactly the same. Charging with a negative ion generator is shown and several small sparks. Oh and me being zapped...like what else is new?

Is that foil tape like you buy for heating and air duct work?

Yes that is exactly what it is. It is the best stuff for making Leyden Jars. I have tried Gluing on Cooking Foil, and using wax; and the Salt water Caps work but what a mess when they tip over. So for lots of stuff the Heating Foil Duct tape is fantastic and works really well. If you use really high voltage after a while the edges get weird from the glue melting, but not usually a big deal.
