70s shirtless dukes of hazzard

In other shows of the 70s, leading men only occasionally took their shirts off. But in DUKES OF HAZZARD (79-85), shirtlessness was a regular feature - and undoubtedly part of the appeal. Earlier in the decade, Charlie's Angels had promised angels in bikinis in every episode. The Duke Boys were the male equivalent. In roughly half the eps, a scene was contrived to allow the extremely hunky farmboys Luke and Bo Duke, played by Tom Wopat and John Schneider, to go shirtless. Both are accomplished actors, but here it was all about showing it off for the viewers. Here are some typical shirtless scenes.

In original scenes where Bo and Luke went searching for clothes, they found some hanging on a line that really didn't fit. Luke ended up in the bottom of a union suit that hung extremely on his hips while Bo ended up in the top, only, which skirted high to his butt.

Another time, they were nude in Genera Lee, being chased, and one full shot showed Luke really was naked showing his pubes.

There were many other scenes like this that must've been censored out in the DVD rlease. Darn it.

at about 3:55 when the narrator says "If you're wonderin why Luke's scorin' with Cooter" what does the narrator say about Bo? I can't understand him.

on the dvd set they show every scene that they don't show on t.v. and the episode where they were driving general lee butt naked was "deputy dukes."

you forgot one: they are both shirtless in Ten Million Dollar Sheriff (at least on my old VHS copy, not sure about the DVD). I know because I recently rewatched those two episodes and hello! Surprise shirtless!Duke boys. Yummy.
