Harry Anslinger is largely responsible for cannabis's current legal status. His arguments where based on Racism, myths, and made up stories that he fabricated and presented to congress.
It was thought that Blacks and Mexicans would smoke marijuana, and this would allow Satan to enter their minds and bodies.
These laws are still in effect, based on racism and hate. How very primitive.
