You are right. This is jigeiko. It is an important part of the kendo training, where motodachi, the instructor, teachs to the student, kakarite', how to get in contact with the opponent and how to find the right occasion to attach. In a situatin like this, where we have two sensei, the jigeiko is made as a demonstration for the students that are watching
