Hitachi Australias line-up of ultra short throw LCD projectors includes the CP-A100, CP-A52 and ED-A111. These projectors use high performance lens with a free-shaped surface which, when combined with the mirror technology, achieve large image projection with a short throw distance.

Reduced throw distance and high angle projection capability means the projectors can be placed in close proximity to the screen bringing shadow-free images and greater flexibility to the user.

  • Hitachi CP-100. Since the short throw is accomplished by reflecting with a "convex" mirror that is cone shaped, it is optimized for 100." Moving the projector back farther ends up distorting the image and relying heavily on keystoning.

I think there is a way around this, I think. The image size can grow proportionally, but the image raises. I could rear project and keep it down where I want it by inverting the projector and mounting it higher than the screen.

  • @dxcomic My thoughts exactly. I have 5 LCD projectors and 2 of them have short throw lens attachments. They are not made bye Hitachi But Like you mentioned, A bigger image is great but what happens when you move the unit back and the distance is increased from the projector screen. I must admit though, Playing Black opps on a 150 inch screen and also Dead Space is a HD rush :)

  • I see the distance to screen is something like 4" to 16" yielding from 60" to 100" image. What happens to the image if the distance is increased beyond 16"?

It would seem obvious the image would get larger, but is there some undesirable effect, distortion, or inability to focus beyond that distance/screen size?

  • @DjGaz yes

  • Want.

  • will either of these do rear projection?

  • Nice =)
