@crockett616 they might have already known then but you can't just point the nose up and fly away, the aircraft is set up for landing not climbing so just pulling up at that point would result in a stall. They probably did know they were going around (just my guess) and had set TOGA (take off go around) power. They were probably waiting for the power and a little bit of airspeed.

My hat goes off to the young lady co-pilot she saved a lot of lives...

@DarqeDestroyer most pilots like airbus even more than boeing -.-
putting a computer between the pilot and the flight controls is pretty smart because it makes it nearly impossible to stall or to get too fast.
and there are more crashes with boeing involved than with airbus planes
dont talk about things you dont understand

No maybe about it. Every Pilot in the world hates airbuses because they put a computer between the pilot and the working parts and give it the authority to override him. The stick and throttles don't go to the wings, they go to a computer that considers the pilot's request, and carries it out if it thinks it's safe. Anyone with a brain can see that this makes for a flying coffin, but Airbus arrogantly refuses to even consider that there is anything wrong with it.

This is a "lewd" video. =p

looks to me like at around 0:34 they should have been able to tell they were going to have troube and gone around.

@LifeReportage why you like idiot answering each comment? We already understood your point of view.
Many complaints from airbus A320 crewmen I know is that the plane will not allow you to put in any aileron cross wind correction in until you are below 50' AGL (Above Ground Level). In other airplanes (737) your allowed to test your ability to correct for a strong crosswind before being behind the power-curve like this guy was. He was dedicated to touching the runway before he even knew if he could handle the crosswind. Maybe something Airbus needs to look at.
