I've noticed that there aren't really any video tutorials on how to load bulk film, so I decided to make one. Sorry that the audio isn't the best, but you can still get the jist of it. If you have questions (if I failed and it's poorly explained) feel free to ask, I'll do my best to answer them.

  • Are you using color or black and white, and if it's color, where do you get it developed, I just wonder since a lot of places have automatic machines which shear the can and if they do that, then what's the point

  • @Tennekis Sorry it took a while to get back to you, haven't checked our email in a while. I use Black and White, so I don't know anything about color film haha. The point is: it's much cheaper to do it yourself than to buy it in the can. And most people that bulk load probably develop their own film also, so they will just pop the top off instead of cutting up their canisters. And their re-usable, so that's also a plus.

  • Thanks for posting, but I would also have liked to see how you load the large roll of film into the bulk loader to begin with. To me, this is the scariest step because I could end up exposing $50 worth of film by accident.

  • @yeknom02 You can use a changing bag, they are really helpful if you don't have a pitch black environment and you can use them in light. I need to get one. But I just did it in my bathroom, with a towel under the door and I taped up the edges of the door.

  • @BandDFilms Well, I already have a changing bag, which I use for loading reels for developing... the only problem is I don't know what the long roll of bulk film will look like once I open the box, so I won't know how to handle it to put it in the bulk loader...

  • @yeknom02 Trust me on this one. If you can load a reel, you can load a bulk loader. It's exactly like you would think it is, just a big roll. There's a screw in the middle of the bulk loader and you just put the middle of the roll over that and then take the front of the film and feed it through the velvet strips on the bulk loader. It's much easier than loading a reel IMO, but once I finish up the film that's left in my loader I'll make a video for ya.

  • Wow, thank you for the upload. That was so helpful! :) Also, this is a bit random, but I think you look a bit like Anwar from the UK version of Skins.

  • Uh no they are $4.95. Psh learn to add

  • @arepepe loading and developing your own film cuts down all your costs by about half.

  • cool video.

  • so is it cheaper to load you own film?

  • U started putting a piece of tape on it. Do you need to turn extra tumes to get exactly 36 expores. Because u waste 2 or 3 expores for the tape?

  • What kind of film loader are you using? And where'd you get it?

  • Oh man! Your movie predates mine by 7 days!!!! Awwwwww.....
